The only natural cure for depression, without taking medications or pills or anything else, is physical work. The most severe depression can be cured by harder work – that’s the only thing. Why? It’s very simple. When you are doing physical work you concentrate on what you’re doing and that takes your mind away from the cause of the depression. With this post, my wisdom has been depleted and from now on I will post only dumb things.
Depression can stem from many causes; medications, major life events, abuse, conflict, genetics, other personal problems. Work IS a good antidote for some types of depression, but telling a depressed person to just get to work to cure their depression is like telling a river to stop flowing.
Getting busy with something will usually help for a while. Getting outside on a sunny day. Doing a kindness for another person. But, sometimes for unknown reasons, it’s hard to swing the mood around for any length of time. Then, just telling yourself that it won’t last forever has been something that helped me.
