FRIENDSHIPS

When a young couple gets married, I’m sure they both have friends which they have invited to the wedding. So each could have five, six, seven, eight or more friends. After they’ve been married for a few months, they decide to have their friends over for dinner or whatever, and the wife may not like one of his friends for any reason. And she would tell her husband that the fellow should not be his friend anymore because she does not like him. And of course the husband, if he has any intelligence, will obey his wife and drop this friend, or any other of his friends she does not like. On the other hand, if the wife has friends and the husband doesn’t like them, the wife will NOT drop the friendship because of the husband’s dislike. Period. And that’s just the way it goes in real life.

  1. Not necessarily true. My husband and I have a lot of mutual friends we had before we were married, before we were dating, even. We have similar feelings for almost all of these people. Some we dearly love, some we barely tolerate. I’d never tell him to get rid of a good friend of his.
